Kids Science Education

The Big Science Project began in April 2019 when Helen, who grew up in rural Wales, noticed the lack of science resources available to children in similar areas. With over twenty years of experience in research science, Helen is passionate about bringing fun and educational science activities to primary school children in rural communities across Wales. As a Welsh speaker, Helen understands how important it is for children in Wales to have access to extracurricular activities bilingually.

The Big Science Project offers activities across science, technology, engineering, and maths. Helen travels across West, Mid, and North Wales to make science more accessible. She has a deep understanding of how to engage children in science based on her extensive experience of science communication and outreach activities.

Additionally, where events are not happening near you, Helen has created home science kits for kids to try at home, suitable for ages 5 years old and up. Check out our ‘Shop’ page for these activities!

Who are we?

The Big Science Project promotes science to children in as many rural communities of Wales as possible. We are inspiring future scientists right here in rural Wales by giving children access to a variety of fun and educational science activities in a community near you.

What is our mission?

The Big Science Project provides events primarily in Ceredigion, Powys, Gwynedd and Pembrokeshire. Helen covers as many areas as possible during the year and will alternate areas that she visits throughout the year.
